May Zoning Hearing Meeting and HARB Meeting cancelled

The May 10^th Zoning Hearing Board meeting and the May 15^th HARB Meeting have been cancelled due to lack of agenda items.
The next tentative meeting for the Zoning Hearing Board is June 14^th.
The next tentative meeting for the HARB is June 19^th.

Wood Chips Available

Wood Chips available at Winding Hill Park East.  Chips are double-shredded, clean and free.

Burn Permits

Burn permit applications will now require a 72 hour notice, so they can be processed by the Upper Allen Fire Department.
Please consider this timeline before you make any plans.

Residential / Recreational firepits and fireplaces do not require a burn permit.
However, residents must abide by the burn ban notice.

Upper Allen awarded PA DCNR Grant

On December 14^th, Upper Allen Township was awarded a $125,000 grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) for improvements to the Winding Hills Park West recreational facilities. Thanks to DCNR, the Township will be able to improve the overall usability of the park by adding over 3,500 linear feet of walking paths, restrooms and a concession stand. It is planned that construction of the Park improvements will begin by the summer of 2012.

Upper Allen Township acquired Winding Hills Park West in 2002 from the developer of Winding Hills Housing Development. Over the past years the park has been primarily used by walkers and youth soccer leagues.

DCNR is the primary source of state support for Pennsylvania recreation, parks, and conservation initiatives. Grant funding from DCNR assists hundreds of communities and organizations across Pennsylvania to plan, acquire, and develop recreation and park facilities, create trails, and conserve open space.

Funding for the grants comes from the Keystone Recreation, Park and Conservation Fund (Key 93), the Environmental Stewardship Fund (Growing Greener 1), and federal funding sources.

Hertzler Rd - Klinedinst Rd Realignment

Effective Monday, December 19, Hertzler Rd will become one-way heading west from Arcona Road to Klinedinst Road.
Hertzler Road will return to two-way traffic from Klinedinst Road west to Mt. Allen Drive.
In addition, Klinedinst Road will also be one-way heading south towards E. Lisburn Road.
Travelers on E. Lisburn Road will no longer be able to turn onto Klinedinst Road.
